  1. Resource

Not everyone can afford editing programs like Adobe Photoshop. Fortunately, you don’t necessarily need to use professional editing programs. The internet is rich with resources and gems if you know how to look, some of which are for free. For example: Pixlr. You can use it to design and edit your name cards too.

  1. Tutorials

Practising with name card design can do you a lot of wonders- look up some free and easy tutorials online and try out different styles. You can also go into online forums to seek advice or inspiration for your portfolio ideas.

  1. Schedule

Arrange your schedule and projects carefully. Make sure not to overload yourself with too many projects at the same time unless you are able to finish it in a timely manner as that would cause you to burn out and mess with the deadlines. Make sure to create deadlines for yourself and mark your progress for each milestone met. Keep arranging so that you have a steady supply of projects as the last thing you want is for a stand still.

  1. Project Management

If you have trouble managing your projects and keeping track of things, then online sources like Evernote and Basecamp can actually help you out a lot. Keep note of to do lists and progress on your project through your PC or phone so that you are always on top of your things.

  1. Communicate

Communication is important for freelancers. Keep in touch with your clients and keep them updated on the progress of their name card design project. Establish a healthy relation with your clients and who knows, they may even refer you to other people looking for freelancers.

These are just some things for your to keep note of as a freelancer. If you are able to keep them in mind and regularly practice these 5 steps, you will be able to establish yourself as a freelancer in no time!
