What are Networking Cards?

Present business cards

Networking cards can be compared to traditional business cards because they give you a chance to offer essential contact and career information to people you interact with in both professional and social situations. Every job seeker needs a networking card. Your resume allows you to build and strengthen networks but it may not be enough and this is why you need a networking card.

Business cards continue to play a critical role in meetings but if you are a recent graduate, you do not have any to hand out to new contacts. The networking cards are also valuable if you are changing careers and you do not want to rely on standard business cards.

Networking is significant if you are trying to find a job. You have to market your skills and knowledge to get the kind of job you are looking for. You have to keep your networking cards in good condition and have them with you whenever you attend networking events. Carry the cards to weddings, parties, professional events, and job and career fairs. You should have the cards anywhere you are likely to engage with potential contacts. It is easier to carry a networking card instead of a resume.

Networking cards are the same shape and size you get with standard business cards. They can measure about 3 inches wide and 2 inches long. These cards have to include essential contact details but unlike business cards, you will not have a job title and company name. A networking card emphasizes on your career and includes a distinct selling proposition. But you have to include other contact information including:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Postal mail address
  • Website address
  • Cellphone number
  • Fax number

There are various places that print networking cards. Look for a printing shop in you area or use one of the online services. It is important to make sure you provide all the details that you want to include on your networking cards when you make a printing order.

It is also possible to make your own networking cards. All you need is to find templates on the internet and personalize them to come up with unique networking cards. Make sure you use quality paper to print the cards. Appearance is very important when it comes to networking cards because you want to impress your potential contacts.

When you make your networking cards, select clean a clean layout and design. Make sure the font is normal. The font size can be between 10 and 11 to make sure the information is legible. If you are looking for a job in a creative industry, you should personalize your card even more to include some creative elements. But it is advisable to select conservative designs and colors to avoid giving the wrong impression.

You also need to keep your cards properly to make sure they remain in great condition. A business-card holder will help to protect them and ensure they remain crisp and clean several months after they are printed. You do not want to go out of your way to design and print networking cards and then allow them to become creased. You need to remember that your contacts will judge your work ethic and personality by simply looking at the condition of the cards you present.

Networking cards can be used to highlight some of the elements you have included on your elements. On this kind of card, you can put in your essential qualifications. These qualifications should be put at the back of the card to prevent crowding the front. Focus on between three and four qualifications when you design your card. Avoid including any past job duties on your networking card. You want your potential clients to know what you are capable of using your qualifications.

Networking cards are a great tool for any job seeker but this does not mean that they should replace a resume. You still have to distribute your resume to as many people as possible. Networking cards come in handy in situations where you cannot carry your resume with you.
