Creating Ombre Name Card Templates In 5 Steps
If you are looking for a new design trend to base your corporate name card with, the ombre colour effect is a fun yet impressive trend to try out! Since it’s introduction, ombre coloured effects have been prominent everywhere- in hair, cars, fashion and even in the corporate world. Here’s how you can create your own ombre name card templates:
1. Preparation
To begin creating ombre name card templates, you will first need to prepare and create a base layer. You will need a background layer to the size of your name card and a texture layer (used for gradation diffusion). If you want shapes as an addition for your name card templates, you can include them in as well. Ideally, recommended shapes would be interlocking patterns like arrows. In order to control the gradation of your ombre effect in your name card templates, you should also use layer masks.
2. Mask
If you are using shapes, select the shapes layer and use it as a layer mask. To set a layer mask, highlight a new gradient fill layer and choose the layer tab. Next, select layer mask and choose reveal selection. This will ensure that your gradient fill layer will conform to the shapes you are using.
3. Gradient Control
Control gradients of your name card templates separately for an optimised ombre effect. Looking into the gradient editor, you will notice the spectrum bar with small swatches on the top as well as bottom. The swatches on top are clicked to control the opacity. A general good setting for your name card templates would be to set the left gradient side as 100% opaque and the right 100% transparent. Next, set your gradient colour by making use of the swatches and adjusting until you find a suitable one.
4. Brightness and Contrast
Bearing in mind that the ombre effect generally depicts colour tones that fade from bright to dark, you need to keep the fading distinct in your name card templates. Create an adjustment layer for brightness and contrast so that you can adjust the settings without having to compromise the settings you have already set in your gradient editor.
5. Finetuning
Finetune the ombre effects in your name card templates by adding an adjustment layer for Hue and Saturation. By adding adjustment layers, you will be able to safeguard the templates that you need while being able to adjust and try out different colour combination options from your colour palette. If you found one that is satisfactory, save your file.
